Diabetes mellitus has gained gigantic disgrace in recent times as it is fast becoming the world’s largest silent killer. India has been projected by WHO as the country with the fastest growing population of Diabetic patients. India has about 6.5 crore diabetes which is second highest number in the world and is projected to have 10.9 crore affected persons by 2035 .It is estimated that there are another 3.5 crore undiagnosed cases of diabetes in India. The problem with diabetes mellitus is that it is very difficult to diagnose in the early stages. However, a person who adopts an Ayurvedic preventive strategy right from the beginning can easily prevent this disease or control it if already suffering. It is a medical condition in which there is an accumulation of glucose in the urine and blood of the person. This condition is known as hyperglycaemia. Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder, i.e. it is caused due to the malfunctioning of the pancreas, which is responsible for the production of the hormone insulin.
Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder which results in the deficiency or dysfunction of the insulin production. Ayurvedic solutions can be adopted to prevent this disease. The main causative factor is said to be sedentary lifestyle and food habits. In Ayurveda diabetes is described as MADHUMEHA, which can be managed conservatively with exercise, diet and internal medication.
Ayurveda, due to its special treatment methods based on scientific fundamentals and utilization of highly effective and safe herbo-mineral preparations can give an effective solution to this burning problem. They help the patient to manage diabetes with ease and maintain good general health. There are a number of herbs that are proved to be anti-diabetics. Insol-N, our flagship product is a unique formulation developed by Muniyal Ayurveda Research Centre it is a judicial combination of anti-diabetic herbs that are mentioned in Ayurvedic texts, proven by exhaustive research and proved in folklore practice. It also contains efficacious Bhasmas and Shilajatu, making the formulation very effective. Insol-N tablets are prepared in Muniyal Ayurveda research center under strict quality control. Its anti-diabetic, hypo-glycaemic, hypo-cholesterolemic, hypo-lipidemic and pancreatic cell regeneration activities, are proved by animal experiments. Same parameters are proved beyond doubt by clinical studies. It is also proved to be highly useful in reducing the complications of diabetes like neuropathy, nephropathy, retinopathy, etc. Hence, it is being used popularly in clinical practice.
Insol-N tablet has created a new dimension in the treatment of diabetes mellitus. The product is being used successfully since more than 36 years and it is established that Insol-N is very useful in keeping the blood sugar at normal level in non-Insulin dependent diabetes. In a study on Alloxan induced diabetic rats, oral administration of Insol-N normalized the elevated blood glucose levels of diabetic rats after two to four weeks of therapy. Insol-N also showed significant reduction in blood glucose levels in oral glucose tolerance test. It was observed that glycogen and protein depletion observed in the diabetic rat tissue were reversed by Insol-N therapy. Enhanced lipid and cholesterol levels in the diabetic state were also found to be markedly reduced after treatment. Enhanced levels of tissue phosphatases and tissue transaminases in the diabetic tissues were significantly reduced indicating cytoprotective activity of Insol-N tablets. Most striking feature was the regeneration of b-cells and increased cell mass was noted in the pancreas of diabetic rats after Insol-N treatment.
In Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Manipal University, in a survey study it was found that Insol-N reduced fasting blood glucose level and HbA1c up to 40% and 30% respectively in a span of three months. Further, the study indicates that patients were satisfied with this medication and witnessed a sense of well-being. Insol-N tablet is designed and developed by Muniyal Ayurvedic Research Centre, Manipal under strict quality control measures. As an Ayurvedic practitioner for more than 20 years I have used Insol-N tablet extensively in my clinical practice for treating diabetes mellitus of different types, varying chronicity and comorbidities. In all such patients I have found Insol N as the best Ayurvedic anti diabetic formulation available in the market. We have also witnessed some cases where diabetes has been successfully reversed after regular intake of Insol-N, especially in newly diagnosed type 2 Diabetics. I have not come across any instances of adverse events with this drug. When Insol-N tablets are combined with life style modifications like diet, exercise, Yoga, Pranayama, meditation etc. best glycaemic control and also prevention from diabetic complications can be achieved.
