A healthy diet is essential to reverse or control diabetes. If you already have diabetes, you might be following a diabetic diet to keep your blood sugar levels in the normal range.

- Potatoes: Potatoes have starch. So you need to avoid those french fries and potato wedges and mashed potatoes.
- Sweetened Beverage: Such beverage are a big no. The carbs present in soft drinks, sodas and sweetened coffee can spike up blood sugar.
Foods to eat if you have high blood sugar levels:
- Cinnamon: Cinnamon helps lower blood sugar levels and is known to improve heart health.
- Cold Water Fish: People with diabetes are twice at risk of a heart disease. Cold water fish has good fat that helps avoid this.
- Fibre rich food: Increasing your fibre intake can help manage blood sugar levels.
- Nuts: Nuts help lower the rate of heart disease. But eating too much of it is also not advisable.
- Chocolate: Dark chocolate is known to help reduce the levels of sugar in blood.
- Oatmeal: Oatmeal is high in soluble fibre. Consuming oats help release glucose into the bloodstream slowly.
- Olive Oil: According to studies, olive oil has plenty of good fats and have better insulin sensitivity.
- Apples: The saying “ An Apple A Day Keeps the Doctor Away” hold true in this case too. Apples are known to lower the risk of Type 2 Diabetes. Apple is also a fibre rich fruit.
Consuming foods like the above mentioned can help in improving high blood sugar issues and can benefit overall health. Also, it is recommended to invest in a glucometer to track your daily blood sugar levels.
