Onam celebration is complete without the Onam Sadhya.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"c6\"><span class=\"c3\">Onam Sadhya<\/span><span class=\"c3\">\u00a0is a feast of<\/span><span class=\"c12\">\u00a026 dishes<\/span><span class=\"c1\"> spread across a banana leaf. It is a 3-course meal consisting of a main dish, dry side dish and pickles and a dessert. The Sadya is a complete meal that has some of the healthiest dishes. Mix well.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">Add buttermilk and stir.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">Stir this continuously, do not let it boil.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">Remove from gas, stir for a few more minutes. And that&#8217;s it you are done!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p class=\"c6\">\n<h2 id=\"h.2fqa0dtt1sg\" class=\"c5\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Thoran\"><\/span><span class=\"c0\">Thoran<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"c6\"><span class=\"c1\">\u00a0A staple in every Malayali household, this is usually made with cabbage and carrots with grated coconut.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"h.ngmofaprax0p\" class=\"c5\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Ingredients-2\"><\/span><span class=\"c7\">Ingredients<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul class=\"c4 lst-kix_bru8d3s8bn0u-0 start\">\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">1 medium sized cabbage<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">1 medium sized onion<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">10 to 12 curry leaves<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">1 tsp black mustard seeds, also called rai<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">1 tsp cumin seeds<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">A pinch of asafoetida<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">1 green chilli<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">1\/2 tsp turmeric powder<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">1\/2 cup grated coconut<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">1 or 2 tbsp coconut oil<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">Salt as per taste<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 id=\"h.ehqhmjkuxxz7\" class=\"c5\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_prepare-2\"><\/span><span class=\"c7\">How to prepare:<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<ol class=\"c4 lst-kix_b3l0uq4fconi-0 start\" start=\"1\">\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">Rinse the cabbage and shred it.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">Heat oil in a pan.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">Add mustard seeds and saute till they crackle.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">Next add in the cumin and saute.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">Add the chopped onions, green chillies and curry leaves. Saute for about a minute or so.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">Add in the turmeric powder and asafoetida. Mix well.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">Finally, add the shredded cabbage and salt.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">Saute for a minute and then cover this on a low flame.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">Steam cook till cabbage is tender and once the mix gets a bit dry, add the coconut and stir.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">Cook this for another 2-3 mins and garnish with coriander leaves at the end.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p class=\"c6\">\n<h2 id=\"h.7gd1fbgzg1s1\" class=\"c5\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Kichadi\"><\/span><span class=\"c0\">Kichadi<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"c6\"><span class=\"c1\">Spiced yogurt with vegetable &#8211; okra (bhindi), bitter gourd or cucumber.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"h.yvyrnni49wcs\" class=\"c5\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Ingredients-3\"><\/span><span class=\"c7\">Ingredients<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul class=\"c4 lst-kix_tgbimfsnjaz9-0 start\">\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">Okra,also called Bhindi : 1\/2 kg ( uniformly chopped round slices)<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">Green chillies: 4-5 finely chopped<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">Yogurt: 1 cup<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">Oil: 3 tsp<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">Salt to taste<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">Mustard Seeds: 1\/2 tsp<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">Dry red chillies: 2<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">Curry leaves: a few<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 id=\"h.c4jn508leeod\" class=\"c5\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_prepare-3\"><\/span><span class=\"c7\">How to prepare<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<ol class=\"c4 lst-kix_1y8thlsclfv-0 start\" start=\"1\">\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">Wash and pat dry the okra. Cut the ends and chop into round slices.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"c2 li-bullet-0\"><span class=\"c1\">Heat oil in a pan, add the chopped okra.
