Kacche Aam Ki Kheer | A Guilt-Free Dessert Recipe

You do not have to hold back on your sweet cravings if you have diabetes. Kacha aam and dry fruits make a delicious kheer when cooked with milk. Check out the healthy recipe below- 

Preparation Time – 30 minutes

Cooking Time – 1 hour 30 minutes

Serves – 4 portions 

Ingredients

  • Green Raw Mango 100 gm
  • Milk (Low Fat Skimmed) 500 ml
  • Cashews 20 gm
  • Almonds 20 gm
  • Sweetener (Stevia) 2 tsp
  • Ghee 1 tsp

Method 

  • Grate the mangoes and wash them thoroughly with running water.
  • Par boil the grated mango (discard the boiling water and wash again).
  • Heat ghee in a pan and saute the parboiled mangoes. Keep them aside.
  • Heat milk in another pot, cook and reduce till it’s half.
  • Add the chopped cashews and almonds to the milk.
  • After the milk is reduced to half, add the cooked mangoes.
  • Lower the heat and add sweetener to your liking.
  • Cook for another 10 minutes.
  • Serve chilled.

This dessert tastes great and makes for a healthy rice kheer alternative. Top it with chopped and roasted almonds/ cashews. This low-calorie and high-protein dessert is best enjoyed alone as a snack. Do not include main meals, as your overall calorie intake may go up. Nuts included in the kheer are rich in Omega 3 and also good for your heart and reducing cholesterol levels.
